The IC698CPE030 is a 600 MHz CPU (central processing unit) produced by GE Fanuc for the RX7i series. Some of the features of the IC698CPE030 include battery-powered user memory and non-volatile data flash memory, mass memory access, configurable data/program memory, and automatic positioning of symbol variables. The CPU supports the 90-70 series discrete and analog I/O, communication, and other modules, including the VME module.

The CPU is equipped with a Pentium-M microprocessor. It has 64 MB of user memory and user flash memory. As an RX7i CPU, the IC698CPE030 is configured for real-time control of processes and material handling structures. The IC698CPE030 unit communicates with the I/O and smart option modules through a rack-mounted backplane in the VME64 standard format. In order to communicate with programmers and different HMI devices, an embedded Ethernet port is used. Serial ports using the SNP Slave protocol can also be used for communication.

When powered on, the IC698CPE030 begins a complete self-diagnostic examination. During initialization, the LED lights will emit ON or OFF states in a specific order. After the initialization process is complete, the OK LED light will flash and then light up.

To avoid memory loss, routine maintenance should be initiated by users. The lithium battery pack (Part IC698ACC701) shall be replaced as scheduled. This is important because of the CPU's battery maintenance program and data storage. In addition, it will run the calendar clock if the power is off.

The CPU comes standard with three isolated serial ports: RS-485 serial port, RS-232 serial port, and RS-232 Ethernet web Manager serial port.
