MVME5100系列采用PowerPlusI架構，支持264MB/s的完整PC吞吐量，而不會耗盡處理器的內存。MVME5100專為滿足國防和航空航天、工業(yè)自動化和醫(yī)療細分市場OEM的需求而設計。
該MVME5100合并了兩個軌道的最佳功能使OEM支持不同的L/0與相同的基礎平臺的要求，簡化零件號維護，技術專長的要求和備用。
P2 1/0模式
該MVME5100支持兩個，跳線可配置P2 1/0模式;PMC和IPMC。PMC模式與MVME2300/MVME2400向后兼容。在PMC模式下，PMC插槽1的64個引腳和PMC插槽2的46個引腳可用于PMC后部I/0的P2。
在IPMC模式下，MVME5100支持傳統(tǒng)的MVME761或MVME712M的I/O模塊(與limitecPMC的I/0)時，一個IPMC761或IPMC712PMC卡在PMC插槽1填充。在這種配置中，PMC插槽2包含一些為擴展SCSI保留的信號。
IPMC模塊

The MVME5100 series uses the PowerPlusI architecture to support a full PC throughput of 264MB/s without depleting the processor's memory. The MVME5100 is designed to meet the needs of Oems in the defense and aerospace, industrial automation, and medical segments.
The MVME5100 combines the best features of both tracks to enable Oems to support different L/ 0s with the same base platform requirements, simplifying part number maintenance, technical expertise requirements and stand-by.
P2 1/0 mode
The MVME5100 supports two jumpers, P2/0 mode can be configured. PMC and IPMC. The PMC mode is backward compatible with the MVME2300/MVME2400. In PMC mode, 64 pins of PMC slot 1 and 46 pins of PMC slot 2 are available for P2 of PMC rear I/0.
In IPMC mode, the MVME5100 supports the traditional MVME761 or MVME712M I/O module (with limitecPMC I/0) when an IPMC761 or IPMC712PMC card is filled in PMC slot 1. In this configuration, PMC slot 2 contains some signals reserved for extended SCSI.
IPMC module
The IPMC761 and IPMC712 are optional add-on PMC modules that provide backward compatibility with previous generation Emerson products such as the MVME2600 and MVME2700 using the MVME761 or MVME712M transition boards. The IPMC module provides the following rear I/O support:
A single-ended ultra-wide SCSI port
A parallel port
Four serial ports (2 or 3 asynchronous and 1 or 2 synchronous/asynchronous). Depends on module)
With this PMC card configuration, memory interlayers, a PMC slot, and PMCspan are still available to support OEM product customization
