The 3500 Series rack can contain one or two power supplies
(3) Manufactured version
The Bently Nevada 3500/15 series power supply is a half-height module that must be installed in a specially designed slot on the left side of the rack. The 3500 rack can contain one or two power supplies (any combination of AC and/or DC), either of which can power the entire rack. If installed, the second power supply acts as a backup to the main power supply. When two power supplies are installed in a rack, the power supply in the lower slot acts as the primary power supply and the power supply in the upper slot acts as the backup power supply. As long as a second power supply is installed, removing or inserting either power module will not interrupt the operation of the rack.
The 3500 power supply accepts a variety of input voltages and converts them to voltages acceptable to other 3500 modules. The 3500 Series mechanical protection system is available in three power supply versions as follows: 1. Ac power, 2. High voltage DC power supply 3. Low voltage DC power supply.
In the 3500 rack, the TDI is located in the slot next to the power supply. It interacts with M-series monitors (3500/40M, 3500/42M, etc.) in order to continuously collect steady-state and transient dynamic (waveform) data and transmit this data to the host software over an Ethernet link.
TDI has traditional static data collection capabilities. However, TDI can also enable the disk to record dynamic, high-resolution transient data using an optional channel.
Function description
The 3500 rack contains the communication processing capabilities of TDI. While TDI performs some tasks shared by the entire rack, it is not a critical component of the monitoring system and is not relevant to how well the entire system monitors autonomous mechanical protection.
Each 3500 rack requires a TDI or RIM, which always occupies slot 1. (Next to the power supply).
The link between the 3500 monitoring system and compatible software is called the 3500/22M Transient Data Interface (TDI) (System 1 condition monitoring and diagnostic software and 3500 system configuration software). TDI combines 3500/20 rack interface modules (RIMfunctionality) with communication processors such as TDXnet to collect data.
