電去離子（EDI）技術(shù)則是通過(guò)在淡水室中放置混合離子交換樹脂，利用電場(chǎng)作用，使陽(yáng)離子向陰極遷移并與樹脂上的OH-結(jié)合，陰離子向陽(yáng)極遷移并與樹脂上的H+結(jié)合，從而實(shí)現(xiàn)水的去離子化。這種方法不需要使用酸堿進(jìn)行再生，是一種更為環(huán)保的去離子技術(shù) 。
去離子水設(shè)備廣泛應(yīng)用于電子、電力、化工、電鍍、鍋爐補(bǔ)給水及醫(yī)藥等領(lǐng)域，特別是在制備超純水和高純水方面。隨著技術(shù)的發(fā)展，除了傳統(tǒng)的離子交換方法，還出現(xiàn)了結(jié)合反滲透（RO）、EDI等技術(shù)的去離子水制備工藝，這些工藝可以有效去除水中的離子，并降低運(yùn)行成本 。
此外，去離子發(fā)生器在空氣凈化領(lǐng)域也有應(yīng)用，如負(fù)離子發(fā)生器，它通過(guò)產(chǎn)生負(fù)離子來(lái)凈化空氣，提高空氣質(zhì)量。負(fù)離子發(fā)生器的工作原理是利用高壓電暈增加空氣中負(fù)離子的含量，從而改善空氣質(zhì)量，促進(jìn)身體健康 。負(fù)離子發(fā)生器可以促進(jìn)空氣中的氧分子激活，形成攜氧負(fù)離子，有助于除塵、滅菌和空氣凈化
