The BC810 unit consists of two basic components: the substrate (TP857) and the power/logic board. The backboard is where the connectors for the CEX-Bus and the external power supply are located. It is grounded to the DIN rail through the metal parts of the housing. The board also has an external power voting diode and fuse. The power and logic board contains the + 3.3V converter, logic, CEX-Bus interconnect drivers, and interconnect cable connectors.
The BC810 can be used with PM857, PM861A, PM862, PM863, PM864A, PM865, PM866, PM866A, PM867, and PM891.
In a fully redundant system with two interconnected BC810 and primary/backup CPU pairs, the BC810 supports online CPU baseboard replacement without interfering with CEX traffic. If the BC810 must be replaced, all traffic connected to the connected CEX network segment will stop.
The CEX-Bus is used to extend the onboard communication port with a communication interface unit. Redundant communication interfaces can also be used on CEX-Bus. The CEX-Bus interconnect unit BC810 is used to improve the availability of the CEX-Bus by dividing the CEX-Bus into separate segments. This improves the availability of systems with redundant communication interfaces.
