The S800 I/O is a comprehensive, distributed, modular process I/O system that communicates with the parent controller and PLC via an industry-standard fieldbus. The CI840 Fieldbus Communication Interface (FCI) module is a configurable communication interface that performs operations such as signal processing, collecting various monitoring information, OSP processing, hot configuration running, HART pass-through, and I/O module configuration. The CI840 is designed for redundant applications. The FCI is connected to the controller via the PROFIBUS-DPV1 fieldbus. The module terminal units to be used are TU846 with redundant I/O and TU847 with non-redundant I/O.
